OUR MISSION
To create a vibrant, regionally unique market and gathering place where the public connects with local farmers, artisans and other producers thereby fostering community support of sustainable agriculture and the local rural economy.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES

- Prioritize, in all decision-making, the interests of local, sustainable agriculture.
- Provide an accessible, profitable venue for small-scale businesses that produce and distribute their products locally.
- Present a diversity of the highest quality local vendors and handmade products in a vibrant marketplace.
- Encourage environmentally, economically, and socially sustainable practices in organizational and vendor operations.
- Foster community involvement in the organization via SustainFloyd.
- Create an environment for our community to gather and participate in local culture and commerce.
LOCATION
The markets will operate under The Floyd Community Market pavilion at 200 S. Locust Street in downtown Floyd across from the Floyd Country Store between The Loft and The Station.
SCHEDULE
Farmers Market: The Grand Opening of the Market will be May 26, 2012 and this is when the vendor commitment will begin. However, the market will commence and spaces will be available beginning Saturday, May 12, 2012 where vendors will be allowed but not required to set up. The Farmers Market will be held every consecutive Saturday ending mid to late October 2012, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Artisans Market: The Artisan Market will open May 4, 2012, and will run consecutive Fridays with official hours of 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Note: There will be at least one craft/artisan booth available at the Saturday morning Farmers Market. There will also be room for food purveyors at the Friday Artisans Market.
ELIGIBLE VENDORS
A: Producers: A producer grows, raises, and/or makes all items to be sold. A producer includes the family and any employees of the producer.
B: Producer Collaboratives: An organization in which one or more local producers combine resources to provide local goods for sale at the market.
VENDOR COMMITMENT
The goal is to have stable vendors each week in established spaces providing continuity and predictability for the consumer. However, rotational space use or booth sharing may be considered in recognition of the need for flexibility. These decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis with preference going to full-season commitments. All decisions will be made by the Market Coordinator and are final.

VENDOR FEES AND REQUIREMENTS
Space fee is $10/market day or a pre-payment of $225 for the season (about 10% off plus providing needed start-up capital for the Market). In addition, all vendors will be charged 3% of daily sales with the maximum of this amount set at $15.00 per day.
Note: SustainFloyd and The Community Market Committee are actively seeking funding to offset fees for this inaugural season.
All items to be sold at the market must originate and/or be produced within Floyd County or any county adjacent to Floyd County. The intent of the Floyd Community Market is to provide a marketplace for local producers and to demonstrate that rural populations will support local farmers in such a venue. Preference will be given to products produced in Floyd County and otherwise closest to the Market location. The Market has the right to make exceptions for the allowance of goods from outside of the above described counties for the purpose of adding direct benefit and viability to the Market. However the Market cannot bring in goods that directly compete with local producers.
